2007 - Sabbatical - Costa Rica Trip : A last minute vacation to Costa Rica proved to be one of the coolest experiences I've ever had. Hiking through the rain forrest, zip lining through the canopy, seeing sea turtles nesting, white water rafting, holding poison dart frogs, seeing iguanas, and horse back riding to a waterfall and then swimming under it. An absolutely unforgettable experience....

2007 - Sabbatical - Roadtrip Rt 1 - Day 6 : On Day 6, we head out to see the sights around LA. Obviously taking in some local culture by visiting Hollywood and doing some shopping at the Promenade. We also took in the Great Wall of LA... a breathtaking, but little known mural on the canal wall that runs the span of 8 city blocks and tells the history of LA from the dinosaurs to approximately 1980... Illustrating big events as well as less talked about events (such as the japaneese internment camps), the mural is a comprehensive and mindblowing compilation painted by highschoolers.

2007 - Sabbatical - Mom and Dad visit the Capitol Airshow : Mom and Dad visited us here in sacramento... conveninently just in time to catch the Capitol Airshow... Between climbing all over some jawdropping aircrafts and witnessing some unbelievable areal acrobatics, we also got to see the new F22A Raptor show off it's capabilities... Wow.. that's all there is to say... just Wow!

2007 - Sabbatical - Roadtrip Rt 1 - Day 5 : On our way out of San Louis Obispo, we make a quick stop at bubble gum alley (yuk!) and then make a quick stop at the quaint dutch town of Solvang. Afterwards, we continue on down the beautiful soreline... stopping randomly to picnic in the breathtaking scenes... ultimately ending up in LA

2007 - Sabbatical - Roadtrip Rt 1 - Day 7 : Waking up on Day 7, we're faced with the choice of traveling either to San Diego, Phoenix, or Las Vegas... none of which are terribly exciting drives.... so we opted to drive the exact same distance home to finally sleep in our own beds... thus drawing to close one of the most fun, carefree, and eye opening road trips we've ever had.

2007 - Sabbatical - Roadtrip Rt 1 - Day 4 : Day 4 started off with a visit to Hearst Castle...this place is simply jaw dropping. Words and pictures fail to describe how utterly inspiring it is. We then continue on south to San Luis Obispo... stopping at Morro Bay for lunch at the well recommended Taco Temple. Once in S.L.O., we spent most of the afternoon taking in the reknown farmers market... complete with live bands, mini donuts (yum!!), costumed entertainers, and face painting, this place also had some of the best fresh fruit! Amazing! Finally, we wrapped up the evening with a trip to the Sunset drive-in theaters (unpictured) to watch Pirates of the Carrabean...

2007 - Sabbatical - Roadtrip Rt 1 - Day 3 : Day 3 starts off in Monterey where we made our own pancakes at the Hostel (yum!!) and then hit up the coolest playground evAr!! The Dennis the Menace playground just rules! Afterwards, it was on the road. Here we enjoyed the beautiful sights along the famous 17mile drive, pebble beach, and the entire coast along the way to Big Sur... stopping regularly to photograph the beauty and even to eat lunch overlooking some of the most amazing views nature has to offer...

2007 - Sabbatical - Roadtrip Rt 1 - Day 2 : Day 2 finds us in Montery. Here we start the day with some whale watching, then go to check out the world famous aquarium. It's so amazing we're definitely going to have to make a second trip one day! Afterwards, we went and lazied around old fishermans warf just daydreaming by the water....

2007 - Sabbatical - Roadtrip Rt 1 - Day 1 : Day 1 of our R1 road trip starts out with lunch in San Francisco followed by a tour of the good old standby tourist traps. Golden Gate Park, Lombard Street etc. It's a long weekend, so we leave a few options unvisited for follow-on visits since SFO is so close. (Palace of fine arts, China Town, Ghiradelli etc)...
